Date Night Beauty Routine: Our Guide for Couple and Solo Dates
Getting ready for date night has a magical feel about it. The excited feeling, the empowering glow and that relaxed state as you start your date night rituals. We've all been there and you're probably reading this right now looking for some ideas to expand your date night routine. With Valentines/Galentines right around the corner, we've got you covered.
Whether you have a fancy dinner planned, date night with the girls or want to smell luscious for a cosy night in binging Netflix, here is mine and Lizzie's guide to date night with tips to enhance your date night beauty routine.
Preparing for Date Night: Pre-Date Glow-Up
Let me start by saying there's no right or wrong way to do date night. We all have our own routines that just change over time. We add new products, change how we do things all the time.
When Lizzie updates her date night routine, I can’t help but get a little excited. She always finds the most amazing products, and while I’d never borrow them (because, skincare!), just hearing her rave about them inspires me to rethink my own routine. It’s like having a front-row seat to her glow-up—it’s impossible not to feel motivated to treat myself, too!
The night before selfcare has always been so important to me. Indulging in a bit of well deserved me time, the mirrors are all steamed up, it's nice and toasty. Your favourite wax melts are filling the air with luscious scents and your skin feels silky soft and smells incredible.
Pre date night bath
My pre date night ritual usually starts with a bath. I don't know about you but it just helps me relax and really get in that date night mood. Bubble bath is a nonnegotiable for me, and just before I get in, I pop in one of our highly scented bath bombs. My favourite at the minute is the Rhubarb & Custard Cocoa Shea Butter Bath Bomb, it smells delicious and leaves your skin feeling so soft.
Pre date night skincare
My top skincare tips for pre date night are to exfoliate, hydrate and really get your skin to a level where it feels nice and nourished. There's nothing quite like the feeling of waking up after your pre date night bath and having your skin feel radiant from all of your skincare preparation.
Date night isn't just about getting ready. It's the whole feeling of it. Those magical moments and days, memories to look back on. The way you glow after your beauty routine and the vibes from the evening. The whole build up to date night and the date night itself are all wonderful experiences, no matter who you're with.
A date night beauty routine to fall in love with
You've done all of your pre-date night prep. Your skin is glowing, maybe you've had a glass of wine. You're settling down to decide what look you're going for, is it a classic romantic vibe for that special someone, or is it a night with the gals and you want to show off that bold edgy look?
Myself and Lizzie like to make it a whole experience when we're getting ready. Everything from the scent in the air down to what we're going to be wearing. It's a great feeling when the vibe just adds to your look and how you feel. It's the little touches such as harmonising fragrances that elevate your night into something truly special.
Step One: Preparing Your Skin
First, you'll want to prepare your skin. Don't let all that hard work of the night before go to waste. You'll want your glow to continue through the night, the best way to do that is by having clean, moisturised skin as the foundation.
Start off by cleansing your skin, I use La Roche-Posay purifying foaming gel cleanser as my skin is prone to blemishes. To keep your skin hydrated through the evening, I've found this Keep Your Balance toner by e.l.f cosmetics works wonders and makes my skin feel so refreshed.

Next you'll want to add a night lightweight moisturiser, my skin always gets such a lovely plump look that lasts when I use Clinique's moisture surge replenishing hydrator.
Once your skin is feeling nice and clean, you're all prepped to start your date night makeup routine.
Step Two: Date Night Makeup Looks
Have you decided what look you're going for yet? Depending on the type of date night, you'll obviously want to match the aesthetic. When Lizzie's getting ready I can't help but hear her laughing whilst she listens to The Therapy Crouch with Abbey Clancy, honestly, give it a listen, I've even started listening to it myself. It's so great to every day tips and to unwind to.
Anyway, back to the routine.
To start off I use this Oui Cherie Glow Gripping Primer, it's infused with cherry extract and leaves your skin smelling so fresh with a soft dewy finish. To get the full experience, bath the night before and use one of our Cherry Blossom Exfoliating Soap Sponges.
Next you'll want to apply foundation for a flawless glowy base. I think we've stumbled across our favourite foundation by now but if you're looking to change things up a bit this Soft Glam Satin Foundation is a great base to give good coverage for a satin finish.
Step Three: Setting The Glow for Date Night
As I said earlier in this blog. My skin is prone to the odd blemish. But, don't worry too much. I've found the perfect solution to get rid of those skin blemishes, NARS Cosmetics Soft Matte complete concealer gives a lovely soft-focus finish. It gives a perfect look that will last throughout your date night.
Now you'll want to set your skin with some powder, something to just bring forward that glow a little. One of my personal favourites at the minute for date night is this halo glow setting powder.
Your date night aesthetic is going to inspire your look. Are you going for a romantic dinner? Then maybe you'll want to go for some soft, romantic eye makeup. Drinks with the girls? Then a bold edgy look might be the way to go.
We've put together some date night aesthetics for you below to inspire your date night look. Whether you're treating yourself to some much needed selfcare with our solo date aesthetic or getting ready for a valentines date with that special someone.
Couples Date Night Aesthetic
Who doesn't love couples date night. Think about where you might be going. Your favourite Italian or luxury restaurant in the city centre.
This pin by bsratysz reminds me of where I'll be going after dry Jan. For a nice glass of wine out in Manchester, we usually go for a bit of food and then have a few cocktails at the bar.
I'll be going for a soft smoky look, I found this perfect tutorial by makeupbydea on TikTok to give the perfect smoky eye.

Solo Date Aesthetic
Treat yourself to a solo date that’s all about indulgence, confidence, and fun. Imagine a night where you’re your own best company—starting with a trip to your favourite restaurant, followed by a lively music event. It’s your night to shine, so let’s make sure your look matches the vibe.
Set the Scene with Scent
Create an atmosphere that feels like you’re stepping into something special. A solo date isn’t complete without a touch of fragrance. Opt for a rich, lingering scent that complements your mood—something that makes you feel like you're in your own little world. Whether it’s a warm, comforting blend or something fresh and uplifting, your fragrance should make you feel like you’re radiating confidence. The Maple Syrup Wax Melt is a perfect way to fill the room with a real sweet smell.
Skincare Rituals to Start Strong
Before the glam, prep your skin with a simple but effective skincare routine. Think of it as setting the foundation for everything that comes next. Cleanse, hydrate, and nourish your skin so it feels plump and glowing all evening. Go for lightweight, nourishing products that won’t weigh you down. Your skin will feel like it’s glowing from within, ready to carry your look from dinner to the music event effortlessly.
Bold Makeup for a Night to Remember
When it comes to your makeup, keep it as bold and independent as the night ahead. You’re not here to blend in—you’re here to stand out. Go for a look that speaks to your personality: maybe a dramatic cat-eye for a touch of glamour or a smoky eye to add some intrigue. Add a pop of colour on your lips to make a statement that matches your mood, whether it's a daring red or a soft, confident nude.
Accessorise Your Vibe
Since it’s all about the details, why not elevate your solo date with a few accessories that match your look? Think statement earrings, a bold necklace, or the perfect bag to carry your essentials. The right accessories can take your outfit from “nice” to “wow” without saying a word.
Valentines Date Night Aesthetic: A Night of Romance and Radiance
Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to indulge in a beauty routine that makes you feel like your most radiant self. Let’s create a look that’s all about love—starting with yourself.
Set the Mood with Romance
The essence of Valentine’s Day is romance, so why not start your prep with a mood-setting scent? Light a candle with soft, floral notes, like rose or jasmine, to fill your space with love in the air. Let the gentle flicker of candlelight and a playlist of your favourite love songs set the tone for an indulgent evening.
Romantic Makeup That Steals the Show
For Valentine’s, lean into soft, romantic tones that highlight your features while keeping the look fresh and flirty.
Eyes: Create a soft, diffused smoky eye using warm pink or champagne shades. Blend it with a touch of shimmer on the inner corners to make your eyes pop. Add a flick of eyeliner for a subtly defined look, and finish with a volumising mascara for fluttery lashes.
Lips: Valentine’s Day calls for the perfect pout. Opt for a creamy, hydrating lipstick in a classic red or a soft berry shade. If bold isn’t your vibe, a tinted lip gloss in a rosy hue will keep things sweet and playful.
Cheeks: Sweep on a touch of blush in a peach or dusty rose shade to give your skin a natural flush. Finish with a highlighter along your cheekbones and cupid’s bow for a soft glow.
Galentines Date Night: Unstoppable Energy
Galentines Day is a global holiday that has gained a lot of popularity over the past few years. I myself, absolutely love Galentines. It's the perfect way to celebrate those all important female friendships.
Galentines Day was made popular in 2010, following the release of a 2010 episode of US sitcom Parks and Recreation.
It’s celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2025, with girls around the world having their own unique ways of making memories with their girlies.
Galentines Date beauty routine:
It’s time to celebrate the real MVPs of your life—your besties. Galentine’s Day is all about gathering your girl gang and celebrating love, laughter, and friendship. Whether you’re heading out for cocktails in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, brunching in Didsbury, or having a cosy night in with the girls, let’s create a beauty routine that’s as fun and fabulous as your crew.
Set the Scene: Girl Gang Vibes
Start the celebrations with a pre-glam ritual. Light some candles with playful, sweet scents—our Twisted Mermaid Candle is perfect for setting a fun, carefree vibe.
Add a bottle of prosecco from Booths or pop to your local Co-op for some chocolate-dipped strawberries to snack on while you prep. Stick on a playlist featuring the ultimate girl-power anthems (we’re talking Beyoncé, Little Mix, and Lizzo) to get everyone hyped for the night ahead.
Makeup for a Night with the Girls
Your Galentine’s look should reflect the vibe of your plans, so here’s some inspiration for different kinds of nights out in the North West.
Brunch in Didsbury: Keep it fresh and natural with soft, dewy skin and a pop of blush. Add a swipe of mascara and a tinted lip balm for that “effortless beauty” vibe. Perfect for sipping mimosas and tucking into smashed avo on toast at Evelyn’s Café Bar.
Cocktails in the Northern Quarter: Go bold with glittery eyeshadow or a statement cat-eye. Pair it with a bold lip—think ruby red or hot pink—and don’t forget a good setting spray to keep your look flawless while you sip on Espresso Martinis at Cottonopolis.
Cosy Night In: Keep things minimal and comfortable. Opt for a lightweight foundation, a touch of bronzer, and a nude gloss. Add a spritz of your favourite perfume for a touch of glamour—even if you’re just watching Love Island with a takeaway from Just Eat.
Cheers to the Girls
No matter how you’re celebrating, Galentine’s Day is all about love—the love you have for your friends and for yourself. Laugh until your cheeks hurt, take a million selfies, and make memories you’ll look back on for years to come. Here’s to Northern charm, good vibes, and the best girl gang around.
